My Top Ten Films| Ailish Elizabeth

The other week I shared with you my top ten TV shows which you could watch during this summer so I thought today I would share with you some films which you could also watch this summer.

All these films I love and are some of my favourites, but obviously not all my favourite films are going to be in this post. I've tried to keep the films to happy films and not ones that can make you emotional or sad things happen in them, as it is summer and you want to be happy.
I've also tried to mention films which are lighthearted and don't make you overthink but you can just enjoy watching. I am also not mentioning films which have been mentioned in the past, so the ones on my netflix post and that is only because I can only mention ten films and they've already been mentioned.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging

This is a film that everyone has to see at least once in their lives; and after seeing it once you can't stop watching it.
I love this film, it's just a perfect film to watch when you are upset, bored or even happy like you can watch it all the time. I cannot remember the first time I watched it, it was years and years ago and I actually have the DVD so I feel like it was before it was Netflix or anything. It's a film that if you have watched it you just end up quoting it or mentioning all time.
For those who have not seen it this is how Wikipedia describes it,
The narrative follows fourteen-year-old Georgia Nicholson as she tries to find a boyfriend while also organising her fifteenth birthday party.
That is a very brief description but is what the film is about, but also a new family moves into the area and their school and in the family there are two brothers which Georgia and her friend Jas both like and that is kind of the center of the film.
Also, this film has a really good soundtrack.

Empire Records

This probably is my favourite film...EVER!
It is such a good film however, I feel as though hardly anyone today has watched it and it's very unknown so that's one of the reasons why I am mentioning it for all of you to go and watch it.
I actually only saw this for the first time in February I think as I was just looking for some films to watch and I had to tell one of my friends to watch it who told two other friends and we love it now.
Again, I own the DVD of this film as they had a special fan edition which has 15 minutes of extra footage, I think and it's just added scenes which I really like throughout the film.
If you have not heard of this film, which I would not be surprised, but here is my description of the film.
It's about a independent music store, Empire Records, and one night one of the workers closes the shop down and takes the money the shop owns and bets with it trying to get more money....he fails. Then the shop it going to be turned into a chain music store and obviously they don't want that and the film is basically the workers, who are all teens, trying to save the store.
The film is such an easy film to watch and it just looks so fun to work there, like everyone gets on and everyone is happy and the store is literally ran by these teens and mainly one adult, their manager Joe.

Captain Fantastic

This is a film I have recently watched and it was very different to anything I have ever watched really.
The film is very interesting and does make you think slightly but you don't have to think really and if you do it's not a lot of thinking, it is just because it shows a different style of living and raising children.
As I don't know how to describe this film this description is from IMDb,
In the forests of the Pacific Northwest, a father devoted to raising his six kids with a rigorous physical and intellectual education is forced to leave his paradise and enter the world, challenging his idea of what it means to be a parent.
That is another brief description but it just shows the difference in this normal parenting and this really bizarre type of parenting and the pros and cons of both, but it's not a parenting film or anything if that us putting you off watching it.

10 Things I Hate About You

Another film I feel like every teen girl has watched and has loved.
I feel like everyone who watches it enjoys the film because it is such a basic film but it just makes you kind of happy and it is another easy film to watch. I don't really know what to say about this film because I just like it and there is really no reason why.
Here is just a description I found on the film on IMDb
Popular, pretty Bianca Stratford is in dilemma. A family rule forbids her from dating until her unpopular, rebellious, boy-hating older sister Kat gets a suitor of her own. In an attempt to win Bianca, a potential boyfriend desperately attempts to set Kat up with Patrick Verona, another rebel who may just be able to win Kat's heart.

Spice World

The Spice Girls Movie
If you have not seen this film go and watch it now, it is literally one of the best films ever.
I have watched this so many times that I can quote it, the first time I watched it was little because me and my sister would always watch when we stayed in my Grandma and Grandad's and we loved it.
Then, it got put on Netflix I think last year and my life was literally complete when it was put on. If you love the Spice Girls, which I think everyone does, you will love this film.
The film is set out a bit like a documentary, as it follows the girls, but it's not a documentary at all like obviously somethings in the film are not true. I could give you a description of the film but I feel like I would make the film sound awful, which it is not, so again the description is from IMDb.
Climb aboard the double decker Spice Bus and get ready for a madcap musical adventure with the sexy phenomenons of pop - the Spice Girls. An encounter with extra-terrestrials, a night in a haunted castle, and a moment of truth in a maternity ward are just a few of the escapades the endeavored upon as the Girls gear up for their first live concert at London's Royal Albert Hall.

The Breakfast Club

This is another film which I feel like everyone has already watched and they should have, I feel like it is a classic film and everyone needs to watch it at least once in their lives.
I watched this for the first time a few years ago after my mum and dad had told me to as well as my older sister telling me to watch it and like everyone who has watched it I really enjoyed it.
Like the majority of the films on this list it is a sit and watch film, it isn't one were you have to think about everything going on or one which bores you five minutes into watching it.
This description is again from IMDb.
They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m., they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply a Brain, an Athlete, a Basket Case, a Princess, and a Criminal, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.

She's All That

I feel like this was a film two of my friends recommended me to watch and it took me so long to finally get around to watch it because I thought I wouldn't like it that much, and I thought wrong.
I really enjoyed this film and again it is a really nice and easy but enjoyable film to watch.
The plot and ending is very predictable and it probably has been done many times and due to that you might not enjoy it or like it but I think even if it has been done many times it's still its own film and different to others which I have watched.
And, again here is the description from IMDb.
High school favourite Zach Siler is dumped by his prom queen shoe-in girlfriend for some slimey TV soap star. On the rebound he takes a bet from his best friend that he can take up with mousey bespectacled Laney Boggs and get her voted prom queen instead. Great friend, impossible task. Though once Laney scraps her glasses, does her hair, and gets into decent rags, Zach finds himself taking rather a lot of notice of her.

Drive Me Crazy

Another film I think I was told to watch and I loved it and I made my sister watch it and she loved it too.
Again, the story line is a story line which you feel like you have either heard of before or watched but even so, the film made it different and the story line it's own.
It's another really girly film, I think and if you like them types of films you need to watch it. I wouldn't say they are my favourite types of films but I always gravitate towards them, as you can tell, and think it is because nothing bad happens in them and they are all very happy.
Here is another IMDb description.
Nicole is popular and stylish and has her sights set on one thing, the gala centennial celebration theme for the prom. She has always been into doing good for the planet. Her second sights are on a date to escort her. But when her dream date invites another girl, Nicole must act fast to find a substitute. She decides to go low and asks her grungy next door neighbor to take her there. But first, he needs a little work done to himself. She gives him a fashion make over to show his true handsome self.

Uptown Girl

I cannot believe I only watched this for the first time the other month, because I have seen it on Netflix for so long and watched to watch it for awhile but never did. Like a few of these films there is a romance storyline, but it's not the main focus, so if you want a film without romance being the main focus maybe watch this.
I think the film is a cute film and it does get a bit upsetting but I don't think I cried whilst watching it because it was mainly a lighthearted film, which I liked.
Here is another description, from IMDb.
Molly Gunn, the freewheeling daughter of a deceased rock legend, is forced to get a job when her manager steals her money. As nanny for precocious Ray, the oft ignored daughter of a music executive, she learns what it means to be an adult while teaching Ray how to be a child.

Beauty and the Beast

I had to mention at least one Disney film in this post because my favourite films and Beauty and the Beast is my favourite Disney film.
This is kind of two films because I love both the old and the new one, so I thought I would mention them both in this and you have two options if you don't like cartoons or if you prefer the first one.
Since an early age Beauty and the Beast has been one of my all time favourite films, which is actually weird because I actually hate cartoons and the only like cartoons I watch/like are Disney films.
I obviously love the original more than the new one but I do love the new version and I love Emma Watson playing Belle and I actually have a review on Beauty and the Beast so I will leave it linked at the end.
Here is the final description from IMDb.
Having lived a life in selfishness, a young prince is cursed by a mysterious enchantress to having the appearance of a monstrous beast. His only hope is to learn to love a young woman and earn her love in return in order to redeem himself. Years later, his chance shows itself when a young maiden named Belle offers to take her ill father's place as his prisoner. With help from the castle's enchanted staff, Belle learns to appreciate her captor and immediately falls in love with him. Back in the village however, an unscrupulous hunter has his own plans for Belle.

There are my top ten films which I recommend you watching this summer if you cannot find anything to watch.
Also, comment below if you have watched any of these or one or two of your favourite films because I love watching/ finding some really good films.
I hope you enjoyed this post.

  1. Nice post! Is it bad that the only movie I've watched on this list is Beauty and The Beast. I am definitely going to check to see if these movies are on Netflix.

  2. I'm someone who has lived a life seemingly in the background, I must say this final indignity I have suffered almost too much to endure. You see, I have been sickly and weak since the day I was born and doomed to go through all my life a weakling. I seemed to have always suffered from one illness or another and could never play with the other children as I so desperately wanted to. Mother always made such a big fuss over me, also, making the situation worse as the other boys teased me mercilessly after they saw it. I was browsing  the internet searching on how i could be transformed into a powerful when i came across the email of a man named Lord Mark. who was a VAMPIRE so I told him that I has always dreamed of becoming a  VAMPIRES, All i did was just to follow the procedure that i was been told, and i bet you that procedure I took change my entire life to something i ever desire, freedom, sickness free, pains free, fame, influence, connections and even more that i can. Thanks to Lord Mark. Do you want a life full of interesting things? Do you want to have power and influence over others? To be charming and desirable?
